Mangaia, COOK ISLANDS.

Thursday 27 May 2020

We held our second Lagi-Maama Talanoa Thursdays on Thursday 27 May 2021, live on zoom, at 6.00pm Aotearoa New Zealand time-space. We were honoured to host our esteemed holders of knowledge Ma‘ara Maeva and Ngāmetua Tū‘ara who shared their knowledge and understanding, from a Mangaian lens, on the John Webber image titled “A Man of Mangea”. And before their talanoa we had an opportunity to hear from Dr Julie Adams, Oceania Curator at British Museum, on why they have come on board this Unity in Diversity and Diversity in Unity (UDDU) project and a brief insight into their John Webber collections.
